Eternal Winter

I watch the snow fall from my bed,

The window seven feet away seems so far:

A portal to another world, one beyond these four walls.

Snowflakes fall elegantly,

Like the white flower petals

That signalled the end of last spring.

The sky is painted in grey today.

It seems warmer across the glass,

Since snow is my friend who came back to check.

Yes, we are still here.

But snow would leave soon, it only ever stayed put for a few days.

On the other side, cold seemed to continue forever,

Not allowing us to melt

In an eternal winter.
