Journey in Rain

Rain punches the gravel.

It seems that the clouds have begun to

unravel.

Drops slither into crevices of soil,

And pool up like the hump

of a camel.

The raucous wind is an ally to the rain.

Combusting in twin

flames.

it whips galling strands of hair into my eyes.

I squint but alas,

in vain.

Swift, I move like the water.

Wait, calls my shadow,

a stalker.

Sprinting across the slick sidewalks,

leaves plaster on the ground

Like mortar.

Cars vroom loudly on the road.

Speckles bounce off their tires and

explode.

A dazzling spray flashes in the air.

I duck and escape

the flood.

The driveway is now in sight.

Hood down, I continue

the scurrying flight.

Fumbling in my pocket, my key

jingles.

Twist.

Click.

I am now

alright.
