Blocks Pushes New Frontiers, Threatening a Less Innovative Competitor: LHS

Lexington—When the LHS administration released student schedules this year, students turned to the Blocks app to organize their calendars. Now, with its Thanksgiving kindness feature in the rearview mirror, Lexspects was able to sit down with the creator of the app, Ben Borgers.

“The goal was always to give Blocks as much functionality as possible,” says Borgers, a senior at LHS. “By programming a feature that allowed students to send messages of kindness to one another, Blocks established itself as an alternative to the gratitude advisory meeting and took huge amounts of market share from the counseling department.”

But Blocks isn’t stopping at replacing advisories. Borgers confirmed that his team is looking to compete with LHS in other critical fields.

“We have secured an exclusive deal with the school cafeteria. Students will be given food based on whether or not they manage to win a spin on the Blocks wheel.” Borgers could neither confirm nor deny rumors that the Blocks wheel was also being considered by teachers as a tool for assigning quarter grades to students.

The day after our interview, Blocks publicly announced Blocks Fit, which will provide programming on basic fitness concepts. Producers at LHS’s The P.E. Experience are reportedly in shock as Solly’s Sriracha, previously one of their main sponsors, confirmed they would be purchasing ad slots on the new program.
