Developing Story: Student Breaks Year-Long Off-Camera Zoom Silence

Juniors in an American Literature class are reportedly in shock after a student who had never turned his camera on participated in a class discussion via the Zoom chat. Sources close to the event are confirming that Colin Johnson, who had until that point avoided speaking in the class, typed the following cryptic message:

“Building off of Lina’s comment, I agree that thorrou [sic] was pushing back against government control of our everyday lives.”

A Harvard linguistics team now believes Johnson was referring to “Thoreau.” In the resulting press conference, English teacher Linda Darwin confirmed that Johnson’s participation grade would be positively affected by his “insightful comment.”
