The Wild (Kanye) West—Ye vs. Skete

There’s no doubt about it: Kimye was an iconic relationship while it lasted. Their love lasted for ages—likely Kim’s longest relationship— after her marriage to Kris Humpries, of course. While we were not able to see the end of their marriage on Keeping Up with the Kardashians, at least we can “keep up” with them on Instagram. Actually, maybe not now that  Kanye’s posts are all deleted. But Skete also deleted his account in embarrassment – even he can’t handle the trolls, but maybe his SNL alter ego Chad can: Chad fights Instagram Trolls - the “Ye”s.

Post-divorce, Kim Kardashian was featured on SNL, where among acting as a judge in The People’s Kourt and advertising her brand, Skims, she found the Aladdin to her Jasmine. Pete lovingly sat beside her and introduced her to a whole new world: the world of Skete.

So, why “Skete?” Kanye has graciously bestowed this title upon Pete, which some sources say is a slang term for a “trashy white male”  or a “skeeter.” When we look at this “trashy white male”, we might think of Machine Gun Kelly (for obvious reasons). Matter of fact, Kim and Pete’s new relationship mirrors that of Megan and MGK, and Kourtney and Travis since they all follow the “barbie” and “tatted up white guy” trope. Speaking of tattoos, Pete made the wise decision after only months of dating to brand Kim’s name across his chest— does anyone remember that little name on his neck for Ariana? Seems like love takes on so many forms—except, this one is a bit harder to remove. Hopefully, Kim and Pete have finally found their “twin flame.”

If there’s anything we know about Kim Kardashian, it’s that she loves being famous for being famous. With all the publicity surrounding Kim and Kanye’s divorce, it’s reasonable to wonder whether this is truly the end of the Kimye saga. For Kim’s sake, we hope it is. Even if Kim wants publicity, this whole situation is reflective that even with money and power, women are not always awarded an easy way out, dominated in the news and harassed by their exes publically. This sentiment is best expressed by Trevor Noah, who stated in The Daily Show that "You may not feel sorry for Kim because she's rich and famous, but what she's going through is terrifying to watch and shines a spotlight on what so many women go through when they choose to leave." If a “self-made billionaire” is facing this publicly, imagine how the average woman must feel—especially with no Chad in shining armor to come to their rescue.
